Safety Check list will Possibly add Underride Rear Guard to it

The FMCSA proposed to add rear impact guards to the inspections list for motor carriers and roadside inspectors. The reason for this is in the past CVSA inspectors did not cite a trucker for damage or loose rear guard. The new proposal will make CVSA inspector in the future take a closer look at the underside, and rear guards. According to Collin Mooney, executive director of the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance, there is a “catch all” regulation that requires that the underride guard to not be damaged. However, the decision of the on whether to write up a citation is left up to each the inspector. Adding a rule to add rear impact guards to the annual inspections list will make the rules more defined instead of subjective.

Our partners at EkoStinger have decided to showcase us on their website. Our President/CEO, Tim Shasserre was quoted, “Wind stability is a real concern for trailers in severe weather conditions.

We’re a full-service leasing company… we maintain everything. It’s extremely difficult to replace side skirts when there is an issue. The EkoStinger product holds up better – it’s very durable.”

Restaurants need help in their struggle to stay open

The year 2020 has not been easy. The global pandemic ahs put a stain on everyone, and every industry. One industry that has been hit especially hard is the restaurant industry. A survey done by the National Restaurant Association, reported that the Covid-19 Pandemic has forced the closure of 100,000 restaurants in the past six months. They also found that 40% of restaurant operators thing that without some type of relief or aid, they will be unable to stay in business after six more months. Mark S. Allen, President and CEO of the International Foodservice Distributors Association (IFDA) was quoted saying “With forty percent of all restaurant owners reporting they may have to close their doors within six months without federal assistance, IFDA implores Congress to take action. Funds tied to previous federal support programs have dried up and as fall approaches, outside dining options will be limited in cold weather states which further threatens the restaurant industry. We stand with our partners at the National Restaurant Association and ask Congress to pass a second round of Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) funding that allows forgiveness for both operating expenses, like inventory and supplies, as well as payroll. Allowing restaurants to use PPP funds to pay suppliers helps pay for the food and supplies they need to keep their kitchens cooking.” ( For information please click on the link.

Cooling Concepts Attends IFDA Smart Conference

We/Cooling Concepts took a different approach by attending the 2017 IFDA Smart Conference, “Food for the Sales & Marketing Mind”. For years we have attended the IFDA Food Distribution Conference, however, listening and learning more about what Distribution Sales & Marketing people are facing in today’s ever-changing environment was really worth our time. Let’s face it, we’re in a digital world and the Millennials and Generation Z are the growing future. Companies need to invest and change to supply more data, create a more attractive atmosphere, and better overall experience for the new generations. How do companies attract this generation of people to help guide their companies to the next levels of business growth? What steps and changes will Food Distributors and their supporting vendors need to take to grow with the challenges of the nearing future?

This conference opened my eyes as I heard from the speakers, sales and marketing representatives of some very important Food Distribution providers like ConAgra Foodservice, Dot Foods, Flanagan Foodservice, Frosty Acres Brands, McCain Foods, and Merchants Foodservice to name a few.

I truly feel that I got more out of this conference than other conferences that we’ve attended in the past.
